Meet Gina Pero, ICF MCC

Gina Pero

I started teaching at 19. I knew how to teach a pirouette, and I was ready for so much more: training in communication, in how a child develops, in how the body learns and retains. Dance was the medium, and I was growing humans.

Over the last 15 years I've coached thousands, individually and in groups. What I've learned is simple: I can only take a student as far as I've grown myself. That's why this certification begins with the mirror.

Dance is the art form. Dance is the medium that we teach through. And we're growing humans. When we begin to learn about the human, everything about the way we teach transforms.

OUR FOUNDATION

Vision, mission & learning philosophy.

MISSION

We grow humans. Dance is the medium. Love is the method.

We educate dance teachers in professional coaching competencies grounded in the ICF framework and integrated with neuroscience, embodied communication, and whole-human development, raising the standard of excellence in dance education around the globe.

VISION

Every young person, shaped by an educator equipped to grow them.

We see a ripple of transformation moving across the dance world, one educator at a time. When an educator learns to grow the whole human alongside the technique, the words spoken in the studio become the words a dancer carries for life.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

This is the next evolution
in dance education.

Same high standards, a different way of being with the student.

THE FOUR PILLARS

Your coaching journey.

Each pillar builds on the last, who you are, how you communicate, what you apply, and who you become. Growth is the gift: when we invest in ours, our students get to experience theirs.

01

Your Coaching Foundation

Who You Are · Sept to Nov

Everything starts with the mirror. Before you can coach another human, you invest in your own self-awareness, wellbeing, and coaching mindset. You'll explore the ICF core competencies and ethical standards, develop your foundation through the Eight Steps to Well-Being, and build the Five Elements of Trust that let you hold space with integrity.

Ethics & Foundation · Core Competency Coach · The Coach Within: 8 Steps · Five Elements of Trust · SWOT for Joy · Self-Care & Boundaries · Energy Management
02

Your Coaching Language

How You Communicate · Dec to Jan

Language is our first language, eye contact, verbal, nonverbal, a hand that waves. This pillar develops the communication skills that become your most powerful coaching instrument: active listening, powerful questioning, feed-forward language, and the art of evoking awareness in your students.

CC Pathway (PPP & CCC) · Power of Your Words · Communication Frameworks · The Art of Feed Forward · Empowering Communication · Championing Your Students · Classroom Cueing
03

Your Coaching Practice

What You Apply · Feb to Mar

Skills move from learning into the room. This is where coaching competencies meet the real classroom, the structure of a class, the science of how students learn, the nervous system patterns underneath behavior, and the intelligence of the body in motion. You develop the ability to read a room and respond with intention.

Classroom Structure · The Learning Process · Nervous System & Behavior · People & Problem Process · Minute to Win It · Choreographing Chemistry
04

Your Coaching Presence

Who You Become · Apr to May

This is where everything integrates. You are the certification, it lives in your body, your voice, your way of being in every room you enter. Through observed coaching sessions, mentor coaching with Gina, TFT assessments, and your capstone, you'll articulate your personal coaching philosophy and step fully into the educator-coach you're here to be.

THE ICF STANDARD

Grounded in something bigger than technique.

Every certified coach in the world is held to the same foundation: the ICF Core Competencies and the ICF Code of Ethics. The competencies describe how you show up in a coaching relationship. The code of ethics protects the human trusting you with their growth.

For a dance educator, this is the difference between correcting a student and truly meeting one. It's what a child feels before they can name it, the sense of being safe, seen, and believed in.

The Core Competencies

Eight competencies. One way of being with another human.

01Demonstrates Ethical Practice

Students sense a person they can trust completely.

02Embodies a Coaching Mindset

You stay curious and open instead of quick to fix.

03Establishes Agreements

Everyone knows the why, clarity replaces confusion.

04Cultivates Trust & Safety

The room softens. Risk feels possible again.

05Maintains Presence

A child feels fully met, not managed.

06Listens Actively

They feel heard beneath the words they say.

07Evokes Awareness

Insight comes from within them, and it stays.

08Facilitates Growth

Learning becomes theirs to own and carry forward.

The Code of Ethics

Confidentiality. Integrity. Clear boundaries. The code is the quiet promise underneath every session, that this is a space where a person can be honest, be human, and be held with care.

It's why parents trust it, why students open up, and why what happens in your classroom becomes something they carry for life.

What your students will feel
Safe Seen Heard Believed in Capable Free to grow
LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

Built the way dancers build technique.

Teaching for Transformation is an experiential, cohort-based journey. These skills are built the same way dancers build technique, through the body, through repetition, through safe space, and through the kind of practice that becomes who you are. Movement is our first language.

Accelerated Learning

Live interactive classes, self-paced digital modules, and personal mentoring combine to build skill with both depth and staying power.

Experiential Learning

Live coaching practice and real studio scenarios develop your capacity to powerfully be with the dancer, nurturing self-awareness, accountability, and creative courage.

Trust & Safety

The ICF principles of ethical practice and trust create a supportive space for continuous learning, heart-centered community, and deep respect.

AN INVITATION TO GO DEEPER

The skills we're all ready for.

This certification meets you where you are and takes you deeper, blending coaching mindset, nervous system science, and communication skills you can use immediately.

What We're Ready to Learn

Most dance educators entered the studio with deep technical knowledge and a genuine love for their students. And now there's an opportunity to go deeper: understanding how communication shapes a child's nervous system, how children mirror our internal states before they hear our words, and how to create safety in every interaction. This is an invitation to develop skills we are all ready for.

The Patterns We Can Shift

When educators develop a coaching mindset and learn to cultivate trust and safety, powerful shifts happen. Students feel seen. Energy in the room transforms. When we understand what's happening in the nervous system, we can meet every student where they are and create the conditions for real, lasting growth.

Seeing Beyond the Behavior

A student who seems disengaged may actually be showing signs of nervous system dysregulation. Learning to listen actively and ask powerful questions instead of reacting transforms these moments into connection. When you understand what's really happening, you can meet the student exactly where they are.

What Becomes Possible

Imagine saying one sentence in an empowering way and shifting the energy of an entire room. Imagine creating a space where children feel safe enough to take risks, grow, and discover who they are, because you've learned how to hold that space with coaching presence and compassion. Same high standards. Deeper results.

FOR STUDIO OWNERS

Invest in your entire team.

Imagine every educator in your studio trained in the same coaching competencies, cultivating trust, listening actively, and meeting every student where they are. That's what becomes possible when you certify your team.

Stand Apart

Your studio becomes the first in your area with ICF-aligned certified coaches on faculty. Parents notice when educators speak a different language, one rooted in trust, safety, and coaching presence.

Invest in Your Educators

Educators who feel invested in stay longer and teach with deeper intention. This certification tells your faculty: your growth matters here. That builds loyalty and purpose.

Sustainable Results

When educators develop a coaching mindset, students feel safe, and safe students take bigger risks, retain more, and grow faster. Deeper coaching creates stronger dancers and more resilient humans.

Empowered Parent Conversations

Educators trained in active listening, direct communication, and the art of powerful questions navigate parent conversations with clarity and compassion. Trust deepens on every side.

One Culture, One Language

When your entire team shares the same coaching competencies, your studio culture shifts at every level, every classroom, every rehearsal, every parent interaction reflects your values.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Everything you need
to know.

Teaching transfers knowledge and mentoring shares experience, both are valuable and directive. Coaching is different: it's a partnership that draws out the answers and awareness already within the person. As a certified coach, you learn to hold space, ask powerful questions, and evoke growth rather than simply correct it. In dance education, that means shifting from telling students what to do to helping them discover how to be.

No. The program is designed for dance educators at every stage. Pillar 01 begins with your own development, who you are, so you build the foundation before applying it with students.

Teaching for Transformation is a nine-month, cohort-based virtual program, 60+ training hours across the four pillars, beginning September 2026. It's designed to move at a pace that lets you integrate each skill into your classroom between sessions.

Yes. The CPDC (Certified Professional Dance Coach) is an ICF Level 1 pathway, with the ICF core competencies and ethics integrated throughout all four pillars.

Certification requires a recorded teaching observation, a recorded private coaching session, completion of the 60+ training hours, and completion of the mentor program, which includes three one-on-one reviews.

Enrollment opens summer 2026 for a September 2026 start. Cohorts are intentionally kept small, so every educator receives close mentorship and individual attention throughout the journey.

Absolutely. Group enrollment is designed for studios ready to bring their entire faculty through together, one shared language, one unified culture, one transformation. Reach out for team pricing and scheduling.
